Meet Ken
Like you, I want to know that I lived. While I walk this planet, I want to know that I pushed myself to experience more. Ask anyone who knows me, they will say this is true. I am not a person to talk about myself, but I understand potential clients or students may want this.
In this Kokoro life, I think we can do something special together. I need you to take a chance with me, so I can live my fulfillment which is to give and create something special for the people I serve. To the people who come to Kokoro, I will give you everything I am and everything I have learned. Your growth, improvement and success are everything to me.
I believe the reason I can stand and say that I can help people is because I have lived transformations. They were not easy and took everything I had. I believe a coach or teacher of anything meaningful must have gone through something very hard. Nobody should lead anyone who has not done this. If someone stands before you to lead you, then they should have themselves walked through darkness. A teacher or coach needs to be comfortable with tough times because students will need assurance, and a teacher and coach need to know the way because they lived the way. This does not mean status or achievement based things where people can hide in a system but rather a challenge that nobody would want to endure. They must have gone through it and not avoided it. That is a person worthy of walking with.
I believe in human transformation. I am a product of it. I am grateful for it, and I want to walk with others and show incredible growth is expected. Kokoro is about challenging life and crafting oneself. It is about taking the real opportunity each of us has each day. The freedom to thrive. Since complacency is the death of a human spirit and comfort kills; Kokoro is to create “Human Resuscitation” and breath life so people thrive and live inspired lives of passion. Over decades of study, application, seeking and experiencing, I began to assemble the material for Foundations. I tested it by teaching it for years. Applied correctly, it breathes hope, energy and life back into people and prepares them for going after their life’s desires.
The other thing that drives me is the need to reduce the amount of suffering people experience. Suffering comes in many forms. My work now revolves around all forms. I focus on lifting the poor, breathing hope to the hopeless, offering a path to those who are stuck in negative health behaviors or people who just stopped believing in themselves. The work needed for me to cover these bases is deep and the demands are constant, but it is the path I choose and being with people gives my life purpose.
I am dedicated to doing what I can to ease suffering and lift people. Suffering does not have to mean the ultimate painful experience. Suffering is doubt and the loss of life from lack of belief. Suffering is being stuck, poverty, disease, hopelessness and brokenness. It could be something like being negative or stuck in a harsh/guilt cycle or anything you don’t like which causes you to feel down regularly (outside of mental health issues requiring professional care).
In addition to my coaching practice, my focus is to speak, teach and show people a way to introduce humanization into offices, organizations and schools. I don’t do motivational speaking. I speak to the sometimes dormant parts of us that need to be awaken so we can shift our priorities. This is through my Humanize Me organization. Just like people have wellness needs, Humanize Me is societal wellness and experiencing it always feels good.
I am blessed with a great partner and two kind-hearted grown kids. I have a couple of overly active pups. In my private life I am drawn to learning. I am surrounded by books. I enjoy riding my motorcycles, training in karate, my local sports teams, my spiritual life, 1980’s (music and stuff) and finally I am tortured by my relationship with chess.
My credentials in health, fitness, coaching, martial arts, behavior modification and teaching.

My Approach
Starting with my own decision in my youth to change the course of my life, my lifetime of traditional Japanese karate study with an understanding of budo and Zen and deep trials inherent in those pursuits, my understanding of applied psychological and coaching principles, my understanding of human nature as a result of deep work with clients, my addressing and overcoming health challenges and my spirituality inferred through walking with people who suffer, I have a unique understanding of what it takes to make transformation focused on full-integration of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and occupational health.
Simple ideas
This combination of tools, understanding and application all while adopting new modern and proven approaches in psychology and coaching science provides an opportunity to open doors, minds and be comfortable exploring what is on the other side.
Lasting impact
We want people who look back on the day they reached out to us as the beginning of the best era of their life.
For our clients to learn what their personal capacity is and watch them flourish and change the world for better is our purpose.
