Nami-Do is a path for adults seeking fulfillment.

Nami in Japanese means '“wave” like tsunami. Waves leave and return new. Do in Japanese means way or path. Nami-do is the new wave way. If you wanted to do one activity which would bring together everything a person could need to be fully-activated; then Nami-do was designed to do that.

What is Nami -Do?

Nami-do is new and absolutely unique to Acton. This does not exist anywhere else on Earth so we have to educate people on this new approach.

It combines:

  • In-person classes for physical training and wellness integration and lectures. This is a combination of fitness training, athletic training, martial arts, self-defense, situational training and awareness, breath work, meditation and Zen cultivation. The dojo (training hall) has the single best format for training both physical, mental and spiritual development. Although this class is a blended approach, it draws on a budo culture to achieve the purpose. Nothing else can do this. Effort is required but ability to do activities can be modified so most can participate. It is ultimately about YOUR progress and not having to be the most athletic.

  • A six step Foundations web-based course which is a focus on creating the ideal interior climate. This is six weeks and only done once. We do this to train students in the best ways to view themselves, the world and their opportunity for greatness. The instructor wrote this program over years of client coaching engagements. It is a mini-mental wellness retreat.

  • Group coaching which aligns students with their goals and helps them achieve their vision. The reflective power of hearing others walk their walk is powerful. This is web-based.

  • Social outings and gatherings like hikes, dining, events or just relaxing and enjoying spending time together.

  • The power of a web-based mental fitness program to remove negative mindsets, align your internal and external lives and reset how you relate to yourself, people and the world. This is Foundations.

  • The power of a sensei and personal trainer focused on developing your highest level of physical output and to help you move faster and with more power and purpose. Just like yoga uses poses, we use a dynamic system. You will get faster, more explosive, powerful, agile, balanced, flexible and leaner. The time spent training will give you a skillset. You will learn a self-defense focused martial art to be a protector.

  • The power of a unique cultural experience where you are immersed into a Japanese budo training ecology and mindset. We use our training to build our indominatible spirit and ultimately adopt a “mushin” or no wind, Zen-like being we take into our lives. This is peace, serenity, wisdom and detachment.

  • The power of a personal trainer to understand the science of fitness to meet you where you are and adopt training to an attainable level.

  • The power of a close group of people all working to improve their lives, experiencing challenges and overcoming them, growing in both pride, confidence and humility. These people will become some of the closest in your life.

One activity combines:

  • Personal development (group coaching/Foundations course) - Mindset, reframing, removing limitations and growth.

  • Martial arts/ athletic conditioning as the basis of physical training (self-defense focused - not sport). No belts. No hierarchy.

    • Cultivation of peace through training in the martial way.

    • Being a protector.

  • Personal training/athletic training - training to maximize what YOU are capable of - modern training approaches.

  • Budo training - this is an eastern concept designed to create both warrior mindset and cultivate Zen.

  • Lifestyle meditiation (healthy practice) - we are a health community where good living will bring big changes. We improve all aspects of our student’s health.

  • Social and friendship development - We train and that training creates a sense of shared experience to extend this, we will do activities and events.

This combines everything we do. The purpose of this program is a radical opportunity to create a powerful immersion into a psychosocial experience rooted in resetting and refocusing, incorporating intense athletic and functional physical, mental and emotional training. Finally, by training and sharing a common experience with a shared mindset, we will become a social group and have monthly adventures and just hang and laugh. During our hang outs, significants are invited to come.

Instructor Background

Your instructor is a 40-year martial artist with additional extensive experience in:

  • Kickboxing instruction

  • Certified personal training

  • Wellness coaching & behavior modification

  • Lifestyle medicine & Exercise is Medicine certification

  • Mental fitness & positive psychology coaching

The goal is to help students reset narratives, unify strengths, and reach their highest potential through the practice of martial arts training.
